Our building houses an important collection and rich exhibition with abount 1,000 exhibits. Including many pieces from the former Bally-Museum in Schönenwerd.
The intoxicating beautiful, first-class material supports the education. Distributed on two floors the exhibition is free and open to the public during our normal opening times. For larger groups please book in advance.
The most common minerals of the large families of feldspar, pyroxene, amphibole, mica and carbonates form the backbone of the exhibition. The exhibits in the showcases are combined in thematic groups. One focus is on the alpine divide minerals, many of which are known finds of Urner Strahler Paul von Känel and Franz von Arx. These include rock crystal, smoky quartz, iron roses and fluorite from Plaggenstock on the Göscheneralp.
