Erasmus Geology - Information for incoming students

Students interested to come to the University of Freiburg for an exchange semester or year should apply at your home university for an Erasmus placement. Application deadlines are: June 15 (for the winter semester) or January 15 (for the summer semester). If your application is successful, your Erasmus coordinator at home will nominate you to Freiburg.

Your Erasmus nomination and studies will be handled by two offices:

  • University Erasmus office, Sedanstr. 4, Ulrich Eckelt (institutional coordinator). This team will guide you through the application process via Mobility Online portal. You will obtain registration link and further information about admission, course enrollment, housing, language courses and orientation days.
  • Departmental Erasmus office, Albertstr. 23b, Prof. David Dolejs (departmental coordinator). He will assist you with academic matters of your study: learning agreement, course selection and timetables, credit recognition and transfer.

The University of Freiburg follows a two-semester academic system. The winter semester runs from mid-October to early February, followed by examination period. The summer semester runs from mid-April to mid-July, followed by examination period. Some courses such as field excursions or laboratory session may be offered outside the instruction period (for instance, field excursions are frequently offered in August and September).
