Petrogenesis of Metamorphic Rocks (2023)
by K. Bucher, 9th Edition
Springer International Publishing, ISBN: 9783031125935

This new edition of the classic textbook presents a large number of diagrams showing the stability relations among minerals and groups of minerals found in metamorphic rocks. The diagrams help to determine the pressure and temperature conditions under which a given set of metamorphic rocks may have formed. Other parameters that control metamorphic mineral assemblages are also discussed and pitfalls resulting from simplifications and generalizations are highlighted. The book discusses the most common metamorphic rock types, their nomenclature, structure and graphical representation of their mineral assemblages.

Geothermal Energy: from theoretical models to exploration and development (2013)
I. Stober & K. Bucher, 8th Edition, ISBN-13: 978-3642133510.

This book contains the necessary technical information needed for developing and understanding geothermal energy projects. It presents basic knowledge on the Earth’s thermal regime and its geothermal energy resources, the types of geothermal energy used as well as its future potential and the perspectives of the industry. Specific chapters deal with borehole heat exchangers and with the direct use of groundwater and thermal water in hydrogeothermal systems. A central topic are Enhanced Geothermal Systems (hot-dry-rock systems), a key technology for energy supply in the near future. Pre-drilling site investigations, drilling technology, well logging and hydraulic test programs are important subjects related to the exploration phase of developing Geothermal Energy sites. The chemical composition of the natural waters used as a heat transport medium in geothermal systems can be used as an exploration tool, but chemistry is also important during operation of a geothermal power plant because of potential scale formation and corrosion of pipes and installations.

Petrogenesis of Metamorphic Rocks (2011)
by K. Bucher and R. Grapes, 8th Edition
Springer-Verlag (ISBN 978-3-540-74168-8)

Petrogenesis of Metamorphic Rocks presents a large number of diagrams showing the stability relations among minerals and groups of minerals found in metamorphic rocks. Part I defines basic principles of metamorphism, introduces metamorphic processes, geologic thermometry and barometry and defines metamorphic grade. Part II presents in a systematic way mineralogical changes and assemblages found in the most common types of metamorphic rocks. The computation of diagrams is based on recent advances in quantitative petrology and geochemistry. An extensive bibliography, including the key contributions and classic papers in the field, make it an invaluable source book for graduate students and professional geologists.

Petrogenesis of Metamorphic Rocks (2002)
by K. Bucher and M. Frey, 7th Edition
Springer-Verlag (ISBN 3-540-43130-6)

Metamorphic rocks make up the largest volume of the Earth. They systematically change their mineralogical composition as a result of tecto-thermal events. The outstanding feature of the 7th edition of this book is the large number of phase diagrams showing the stability relations among minerals and groups of minerals found in metamorphic rocks. The diagrams help to determine the pressure and temperature conditions under which a given collected set of metamorphic rocks may have formed. More than half of the chapters have been completely rewritten or revised. All figures have been edited and improved and recent advances in the field such as multiequilibria thermobarometry and pseudosections were incorporated in the text. The bibliography has been revised and extended, new research publications have also been included. Graduate students will find in depth information on the origin, significance and genesis of metamorphic rocks.

Frontiers in Geofluids (2010)
by B. Yardley et al. (Eds.)
Wiley, ISBN: 978-1-4443-3330-5

Frontiers in Geofluids is a collection of invited papers chosen to highlight recent developments in our understanding of geological fluids in different parts of the Earth, and published to mark the first ten years of publication of the journal Geofluids. The scope of the volume ranges from the fundamental properties of fluids and the phase relationships of fluids encountered in nature, to case studies of the role of fluids in natural processes. New developments in analytical and theoretical approaches to understanding fluid compositions, fluid properties, and geological fluid dynamics across a wide range of environments are included. A recurrent theme of research published in Geofluids is the way in which similar approaches can be applied to geological fluids in very different settings and this is reflected in the diverse range of applications of fluid studies that are included here.

NEAT-Mineralien (2011)

by K. Bucher and M. Frey, 6th Edition, Springer-
Verlag (ISBN 3-540-57567-7)

The new edition of Winkler's textbook, completely revised by K.Bucher and M.Frey, is written at the same level as the preceding editions. Numerous diagrams showing the stability relations among minerals found in metamorphic rocks help to determine the pressure and temperature conditions under which a given set of metamorphic rocks may have formed.
Part I explains basic principles of metamorphism, introduces metamorphic processes and geologic thermobarometry, and defines metamorphic grade. Part II presents in a systematic way mineralogical changes and assemblages found in the most common types of rocks. The computation of the diagrams is based on recent advances in quantitative petrology and geochemistry. An extensive bibliography makes it an invaluable source book for graduate students and professional geologists.
