1973 apprenticeship in electronis, Endress & Hauser, D.
1984 diploma in mineralogy, University of Freiburg i. Br., Germany.
1980 academic training for one year at Brock University, Ontario/Canada.
1984 – 1993 industrial experience at Krupp-Polysius (cement), Degussa Rheinfelden (automotive catalysts) and Alusuisse Neuhausen (ceramics synthesis and characterisation).
1993 Dr. rer. nat. in crystallography from the University of Freiburg i.Br., D.
Joining Empa in 1993, working as group leader in the department “High Performance Ceramics “on the top-ics ceramic processing, ceramic powder- and perovskite synthesis, characterisation and post mortem analy-sis on SOFC and SOEC cells, biomorph & porous materials and coatings with functional layers.
Since 2003 lecturer at the University of Freiburg i.Br., department geoscience with the topic ceramic materials.
Since October 2008 senior scientist at the Laboratory Hydrogen & Energy with the topic “Hydrogen Synthesis”.

Member of the American Ceramic Society, Hydropol and Association of Swiss Engineers.
