Curriculum Vitae

Prof. U.F. Vogt was working as materials scientist at EMPA Dübendorf, Department Materials for Energy Conversion for 25 years. He has received his Diploma at Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg, Institute of Earth and Environmental Sciences, Germany, where he has done also his PhD and Habilitation, and where he holds an adjunct professorship.

He started his professional career as junior scientist in the Department for Cement Chemistry at Krupp-Polysius, Neubeckum (D). Subsequently he was leading a research group at Alusuisse-Lonza Services AG, Switzerland where he was responsible for developing new synthesis meth-ods for non-oxide ceramics, ceramic fibres as well as their specific characterisation and pro-cessing.

The focus of his work was on the general topics like materials for energy conversion with the focus on engineering ceramics in general with key aspects like Perovskite synthesis and charac-terisation, material development for advanced SOFC & SOEC electrodes and electrolytes, mem-brane & electrode development for alkaline electrolysis, catalytic hydrogen combustion on po-rous Pt coated ceramic foams, doped CeO2 ceramics for solar thermochemical CO2 & H2O splitting by a redox reaction, as well as solid electrolyte (β’’ Al2O3) development for ZEBRA batteries. He authored over 70 SCI publications and holds 11 patents.
