The high-temperature experimental laboratory hosts three 1-atm furnaces. Two Nabertherm muffle furnaces with operating temperatures between 900 and 1700 °C are used for synthesis of silicate glasses. The third instrument is a gas-mixing furnace consisting of a Nabertherm vertical tube furnace with controlled CO-CO2 atmosphere and a maximum temperature of 1700 °C, used for experiments conducted under controlled oxygen fugacity. Experimental sample containers from precious metal tubing are welded with a Lampert PUK5 point welding device.
